Manicure trends

Hello beautiful people!!

New trends in manicures!!

First, I just want to explain what a manicure is exactly, since I have found in the last few months that people honestly don't know, or have a very wrong idea about it. A manicure is when the hands and nails are cleaned up, the cuticles are removed and the skin around the nail is treated, the nails are shaped and buffed, shined and nail polish is applied. The whole process is finished with a hand massage and cuticle oil. In some cases the nail polish is skipped, and other products are applied instead, like acrylics or gel and tips. A pedicure is the same thing, just applied to the feet. It is actually really relaxing and fun!

The term manicure can be used to describe your nail polish paint job as well too, as it is being used here in this post.

The moon manicure is when the half moon shape on your nail (nearest to the cuticle) is painted a different shade than the rest of the nail. The reverse moon manicure is the same, except the half moon is inverted. Here is how not to do a moon manicure:

Slamming your finger in a car door in the name of fashion is not a good idea. This was taking the expression : "It's painful to be beautiful" a bit too far. Actually I've been waiting for weeks now to put up a picture of my thumb, just to get some sympathy. So feel sorry for me already!! Anyway, moving swiftly along, here is the real moon manicure :

The reverse moon mani :

And this one is called the inverted french :

You can achieve this look by simply using any rounded sticker to block out the colour, or if you have a steady hand, you can simply do it free hand.

By the way, the trends on french mani's have also changed. The whole look was out of style until a very short while ago. Who knew, right? Now it is in to paint the free edge (where you would traditionally put the white) any dark colour, like navy blue, dark plum or black, and the rest of the nail beige, greige or any or any other solid neutral colour. Greige is a mixture of gray and beige, for those of you who are not up to date!! :P

I like it! It is different from the usual old stuff. What are your thoughts on this new trend? Please let me know, I love hearing from you!!

Anyway, stay beautiful!
