European ban on animal testing

Hello beauties!

This is two day old news, but heck, am I glad about this old news! :)

I told you about the European Union's plans to ban animal tested products from European countries a while ago, and at the time, it still looked as if the deadline for this ban to take place would be shifted to 2023.

As it turns out, they didn't shift it and the ban came into place on the 11 March 2013!

Now products which have been tested, or have ingredients that have been tested on animals, anywhere in the world, are banned from European shelves. Nothing can be sold there that has been animal tested! Awesome huh? This is a massive breakthrough for the cosmetics industry and for those of us who value animal lives. I also believe this will create a mind shift for those companies who endorse animal testing, because, let's face it, the EU is a massive share of the cosmetics market and who would want to lose that?!?!

Here's what the EU had to say about it :

"Today's entry into force of the full marketing ban gives an important signal on the value that Europe attaches to animal welfare. The Commission is committed to continue supporting the development of alternative methods and to engage with third countries to follow our European approach. This is a great opportunity for Europe to set an example of responsible innovation in cosmetics without any compromise on consumer safety."

This video says it even better :

This just about made my year!! Fluffy bunnies, run free! :D

Tune in for another guest post from The Chef Mother tomorrow, which is all about face masks you can make at home and eat too! :P

Stay beautiful and be kind to animals,

Yolandie
