I said I'd do a post on colouring your hair at home, as part of the basics of beauty series, but I already did a post on that. Click here if you want to read it. It saves some time, because now we can get right to the cool stuff, ombre hair DIY.
Ombre is still a massive trend and won't be going anywhere soon. So if you've been unsure about it all along, but liked it, you still have a chance to go the ombre route. It'll be trendy next year still, and most probably even longer.
The cool thing about this look is that it's pretty low maintenance. Unlike highlights that need to be touched up when they grow out, ombre is supposed to be darker at the root and lighter at the tip. So you can do this look and not worry about hair dye for a little longer than you would have otherwise. And with all the tutorials and kits you can buy these days, it's so simple anyone can do the ombre themselves, in the convenience of their own homes, and at a fraction of the cost.
But do keep in mind that dye, and especially bleach, can turn out disastrous if you don't have a handle on things. You don't want to be forced into a new haircut because you fried off your ends with bleach. So be careful, follow the instructions on the bleach or dye you're using and keep to the allotted time for developing.
Sorry for the length of some of these videos, but I struggled to find good tutorials showing you different results with or without bleach and with different colours. But here they are.
If you're blonde, you won't need to bleach first, because the colour will take more easily on your lighter hair. You can dilute the colour with conditioner for a softer effect as well, because the colour could come out darker than you want on your light hair.
I hope you found this helpful!
