I wish you every joy and happiness in this new year! May you know overwhelming love, dream bigger than you imagined you could and reach the unattainable successes you never thought you would.
2014 was a big year for me. Being a mom has been the most fulfilling and time consuming thing I've ever attempted. I thought I was busy before I had Kayla, but MAN WAS I WRONG. What in the world did I do with all of my time...? Motherhood has really changed me, and if you look at the photos of my year, you'll see it. I have over 40 gigs of photos dedicated to Kayla alone, and that's not counting the photos that aren't in the 'Kayla' folder on my PC. Those little moments we shared have made up a massive part of my 2014, which has been the most special year of my life. And I bet that 2015 will be even more spectacular.
But beyond Kayla, a lot of amazing things happened too. Jan and I shared our six year wedding anniversary and we're more in love than ever. Kayla was Christened. We shared some incredible moments with family and friends and experienced new life in their families too. This includes the news of an addition to our own family, and we're eagerly awaiting baby Van Zyl's arrival in May! We celebrated a whole lot of first birthdays, which was awesome, but we also celebrated birthdays in higher numerical orders, like a 91 year old granny. There was also the Santana wedding, which was lovely.
I dyed my hair a few times, including the time I went pink! I also cut it really short and loved the change. But now it's time to grow again, I think!! (I MISS MY BRAIDS!) I took a lot of photos of all kinds of random things and I loved it.
We went on an AWESOME holiday to one of the most beautiful places in South Africa. Kayla met two of her great-grandparents for the very first time. I published The Song of War and I was published in print for the first time. I also finished The Queen's Fury, which is due for release in June of this year. I'm working on a plotline for my new novel too! Watch this space. There was some art, some renovations and some new things for our home. I started a website, second blog and an Instagram account. :P The Bloomin' Couch had a makeover, in looks and more recently content, about which I'm stoked. I started doing tutorials again, which is great, and I did a lot more makeup in 2014 than in 2013. I was pregnant, OK!
I've included some photos taken over December, to share what you missed while I wasn't blogging. So there's some pictures of my Christmas table and decor, Kayla's gifts and activities, a quick trip to the Montecasino bird gardens, playing with sparklers and all kinds of other things.
So here's a roundup of some of the highlights of 2014 (in no particular order). Enjoy.
Just a final thought from my side is this. Even if your 2014 had some heartache, disappointment or just a generally bad vibe, I hope you believe in and hope for this new year. It can only get better!
Stay beautiful and be kind to animals,
